A$iia: The Rising R&B Star Turning Pain into Power and Fashion into Freedom

Some artists are born with a voice. Others are born with a vision. And A$iia? She’s got both — and she’s not afraid to use them.

Driven. Compassionate. Big-hearted. That’s how A$iia sums up who she is, and those three words echo in every lyric, every look, and every moment she shares with the world. From childhood choir performances to confidently owning the stage with her smooth, confident vocals, A$iia has always known music was her calling — even when the world tried to place her in a box.

“I started off as a female rapper,” she shares, “because people told me that’s what I should be as a young Black woman doing music. But it didn’t feel right. I had to find my sound. Singing is what makes me feel alive.”

And you can feel that aliveness in every beat of her breakout single, "Toxic Love" — a sultry, slow-burning anthem for anyone who’s ever wanted to take back control in a relationship. Inspired by real experiences and written entirely by A$iia herself, the track pulls listeners into a world of self-reflection and confidence-building. “I want people to feel calm, but powerful. I want them to feel like they can take the reins.”

Rihanna Roots, 2000s Swagger

A$iia’s sonic world is rooted in the same R&B and hip-hop that shaped her childhood, but her biggest inspiration has always been Rihanna. “She taught me how to move, how to dress, how to be fearless on stage,” she says. You’ll see that influence in the fashion-forward visuals she creates — think bold colors, 90s flair, and unapologetic glam with a modern edge. “Especially her Rated R era,” A$iia adds. “It spoke to me.”

Whether she’s rocking a confident strut in her music videos or performing live at her upcoming Music Video Release Party on August 2nd, A$iia knows how to own the moment — even if that boldness wasn’t always second nature. “I’m actually shy,” she admits. “But music brings out another side of me. Like how Lady Gaga’s shy off-stage — I totally get that.”

The Creative Grind Behind the Glam

A true multi-hyphenate, A$iia writes all her own songs and often creates her own beats. Her process? Deeply intuitive. “I’ll play a beat over and over until a melody comes to me. Then I pick a topic — usually about love — and let the lyrics flow. Once I start recording, I bring it all to life with harmonies and emotion.”

Her upcoming single “Nightmares” is one she’s especially proud of — a darker, more introspective track that explores the haunting aftershocks of love. It’s a different vibe than “Toxic Love” or the high-energy “Girl In Mind (U See)”, but A$iia isn’t interested in staying in one lane. “I like to make music that fits every mood,” she explains. “So whether someone wants to chill or dance, I’ve got something for them.”

From Omegle to Opportunity

One of the most surreal moments in her journey so far? Meeting Equinox, a producer who’s worked with rapper Comethazine — completely by chance. “It was on Omegle of all places,” she laughs. “I was still early in my career. I showed him my SoundCloud, and he made me a producer tag right there on the spot. I was in shock. It made me believe I was really meant to do this.”

Breaking the Mold — and Making Space

But the path hasn’t always been easy. As a woman of color navigating the industry, A$iia’s had to fight to be seen her way. “People will try to push you toward a trend or an image. But I always go back to why I started music — because I want to inspire others. That keeps me grounded.”

Her advice for other young women — especially Black and Brown artists — is crystal clear: “Don’t let anyone tell you your dream isn’t real. People will say you need a ‘real job,’ or they’ll box you into one genre. But look at Beyoncé — she just did a country album! Chase your sound. Be yourself. That’s the only way to truly make it.”

The Bigger Picture

With graduation around the corner and a degree in music on the horizon, A$iia sees the next five years as a time of growth and elevation. “I want to be living off my music. Helping others in a studio by day, doing my own gigs by night. And yeah — I’d love to be on stage at the Grammys with SZA and Rihanna one day.”

But at her core, A$iia’s already winning. Because she’s creating on her own terms, lifting up others with every lyric, and proving that shy girls can shine the brightest when they finally step into their spotlight.

Follow A$iia’s journey on all streaming platforms and don’t miss the “Toxic Love” video release party on August 2nd. This is just the beginning.
